ASEAN Women to Study STEM in UK with Prestigious Scholarships

On August 7, 2024, the UK government proudly revealed the inaugural recipients of the ASEAN-UK SAGE Women in STEM Scholarships, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at closing the gender gap in STEM fields across Southeast Asia and Timor-Leste.

Ten exemplary women from diverse ASEAN countries have been awarded fully funded scholarships to pursue master’s degrees at the prestigious University of Warwick and Imperial College London.

This scholarship programme, part of the ASEAN-UK Supporting the Advancement of Girls’ Education (SAGE) Programme, is a significant step towards fostering gender equality and empowering women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Women currently represent only 29.2% of the global STEM workforce, highlighting the urgent need for initiatives like this one.

Selected from hundreds of applicants, these scholars were chosen based on their academic excellence, leadership potential, and commitment to contributing to the STEM field.
